Research
My research interests are devoted to the chromosome and genome evolution of flowering plants. I try to ascertain the mechanisms underlying the diversification of plant genomes and their consequences for the phenotypes in a phylogenetic and evolutionary context. I focus on grasses and grass-like plants (monocots) with the following, partly overlapping topics of research:
- Genome duplication (or polyploidy) and hybridisation
- Dysploidy
- Genome size and DNA base pair variation
- Phylogeny
- Biogeography (cytogeography)
