2008 - 2011 Post-doctoral researcher: “Phylogeographic pattern and gene flow in African Marantaceae” in the lab of Dr. Olivier Hardy from the department of Evolutionary Biology and Ecology at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium with field trips to the tropical rainforest in Cameroun and DRCongo (DAAD, DFG, FNRS, ANR).
2004 – 2008 Doctoral position: “Evolutionary tendencies in African Marantaceae – evidence from floral morphology, ecology and phylogeny” with three field trips of three to four months to the tropical rainforest in Gabon (DAAD, DFG). Supervisor: Prof. R. Claßen-Bockhoff at the University of Mainz, Germany.
2002/03 Diploma thesis: “Diversity and Endemism of the Tribus Epidendreae (Orchidaceae) in Bolivia” conducted at the Fundacion Amigos de la Naturaleza (FAN) in Bolivia (DAAD). Supervisor: Prof. P. Ibisch and Prof. W. Barthlott at the University of Bonn, Germany.
